[5]This was two elections at once. There was the regular election for the U.S. Senate, which was won by Edward Lloyd. There was also the Special Election of William Pinkney, to fill the seat vacated when Alexander Contee Hanson died on April 23, 1819. There seems to have been no discernation between the various candidates as to which seat they were being voted on for.
