[8]The Columbian Centinel of May 1, 1813 lists the Federalist as Peace Candidates and the Republicans as War Hawks.
[9]"This is the first time for 16 or 17 years, that Nantucket has chosen Federalist for Selectmen, assessors, etc. The meeting was conducted with great propriety, excepting this instance - Sylvanus Macey (one of the old Selectmen) seeing how the election was likely to go, put the returned Warrant into his pocket, and absented himself, which might possibly have made the meeting void; but a constable was sent after him, and the warrant was soon returned." Columbian Centinel. Massachusetts Federalist (Boston, MA). May 1, 1813.
