[2]"Monday, October 21. At 11 o'clock this day, the clerk called the house to order, when about 85 members appeared, were qualified and took their seats. The clerk then announced a quorum and informed the house that the election of speaker was the first thing in order. Gen. Smith of Rockcastle nominated Mr. R. C. Anderson, Mr. Baker nominated Mr. Dabney C. Cosby, Mr. Shannon nominated Mr. John Rowan. The clerk then proceeded to a call of the hosue when the vote stood thus ...Whereupon Mr. R.C. Anderson was duly elected speaker." Kentucky Gazette (Lexington, KY). October 31, 1822.
[3]"In the house of representatives, Messrs. R.C. Anderson, John Rowan (both formerly prominent members of Congress) and D. C. Cosby, were put in nomination for the office of speaker, and the balloting resulted in giving to Mr. Anderson 43 votes, Mr. Rowan, 33 and Mr. Cosby, 7." The Alexandria Herald (Alexandria, VA).
