[2]There seems to be some confusion as to the name of the elector. The Nashville Whig (Nashville, TN) lists him as Colonel Matthew M'Clanahan. The Knoxville Register (Knoxville, TN), in announcing the elected electors lists him as Alexander McClannahan. The United States Telegraph in its special issue with the history of the Electoral College refers to him as Martin McClanahan.
