[2]"House of Commons. Monday, November 16, 1812. A large majority of members assembled at two o'clock. Mr. J. A. Cameron nominated Gen. Steele of Salisbury as Speaker; Mr. Wm. R. Johnston nominated William Miller, Esq. of Warren. Gen. Steele requested to have his name withdrawn; Mr. Cameron, however, refused to withdraw it. the House proceeded to ballot, and on counting the votes, they were for...
