Notes:

[1]Elected.
[2]Elected.
[3]"Whole number of votes, 7355. Make a choice, 1839." Governor's Council Records.
[4]Two of the Federalist candidates nominate, William C. Jarvis and Thomas Allen, declined, the latter just days before the election. With no time to nominate another candidate, he still received substantial support in towns where this news was not know. The result was a laarge number of scattering votes, which seemed to have been clustered in pockets of town where certain individuals resided. Eli Ensign lived in Sheffield, Douglass W. Sloan was from Williamstown, Doctor William H. Tyler lived in Adams and Richard F. Barnard was from Pittsfield, hence their votes in neighboring towns.
[5]"No return of votes was received from ... the town of Florida in the county of Berkshire." Governor's Council Records.
