[2]Thomas Forrest was elected on October 1, 1822, in the first district, to the Seventeenth Congress, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of William Milnor and served from October 8, 1822 to March 3, 1823. He lost to Daniel H. Miller when he ran for office in the Eighteenth Congress in the third district (following redistricting).
[3]Several sources report 2888 votes for Daniel H. Miller and 1494 votes for Thomas Forrest, including the October 9th issue of The National Gazette and Literary Register (Philadelphia, PA), the October 10th issue of The Democratic Press (Philadelphia, PA), and the October 16th issue of The National Intelligencer (Washington, DC). Please note that the sums of the township totals reported in several sources are 2888 and 1494 for Miller and Forrest respectively.
[4]The Franklin Gazette (Philadelphia, PA) changed the votes it reports for Daniel H. Miller from 2888 to 2891 and for Thomas Forrest from 1494 to 1500 between its October 9th and October 16th editions, and reports that the votes listed in the October 16th edition are the "Official Returns."
