[1]"In the county of Cheshire there was no choice for Senator by the people, owing to two towns being rejected; candidates ROBERT ALCOCK, and SETH PAYSON, on first balloting they each had 82 votes, 2d balloting 83 - and 3d 84 each, when the Speaker declared himself in favor of the Mr. PAYSON, he was chosen." [2]"In consequence of the illegality of the votes in the town of Hancock, in the 9th Senatorial District, the seat of the Hon. Mr. Alcock (who, including the votes of that town, had been elected a Senator by a small majority) was declared vacant. On Friday the 3d inst. the two branches of the Legislature met in Convention to fill the vacancy; Robert Alcock, Esq. and the Rev. Seth Payson, being the candidates. On balloting, the Rev.
