[3]The True American and Commercial Advertiser (Philadelphia, PA) from October 26 explains that "An alteration appears on the face of the Bethel return of 6 votes in favour of Mr. Fields, which if incorrect will place John Piper 5 votes above Mr. Fields, ~ a special return has therefore been made to the General Assembly." However, it appears that the alteration to the election results did not take place and that David Fields was elected. He was introduced on December 1, 1812 to the Assembly, according to the Journal of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, 1812.
