Notes:

[1]Elected.
[2]Early vote totals vary by source, but The Pittsburgh Gazette (Pittsburgh, PA) from November 4 reports the "Official returns of the votes for a member of Congress for this district, at the election on the 14th ult...Majority for Smith, 718" and The Intelligencer, and Weekly Advertiser (Lancaster, PA) from November 11 reports the "Correct statement of the number of votes given in the district," which are listed here.
[3]"The following is a correct statement of the votes given for a member of congress in this district, at the late election:--we subjoin the votes given last year...Last year there were three candidates for congress. Capt. N. Irish received near 500 votes in the district; and it is not unfair to suppose that at least two thirds of those who last year voted for Cat. Irish, this year voted for Wilkins; which accounts for his having 358 votes more than Gen. O'Hara had last year -- and this supposition is strengthened when we observe, that although a part of the votes of Erie county, of which Smith had a considerable majority, were lost in the general return, on account of not being returned on the day appointed by law, yet Mr. Smith had, this year, 64 votes more than he had at the last election - the combined efforts of the aristocrats, traitors, tories, and apostate whigs to the contrary notwithstanding." The Commonwealth (Pittsburgh, PA). November 5, 1806.
[4]The Commonwealth (Pittsburgh, PA) from October 22 lists John Wilkins with 365 votes.
[5]The Crawford Weekly Messenger (Meadville, PA) from October 23 lists Samuel Smith with 460 votes.
[6]The Crawford Weekly Messenger (Meadville, PA) from October 23 lists Samuel Smith with 104 votes.
[7]The Crawford Weekly Messenger (Meadville, PA) from October 23 lists Samuel Smith with 38 votes.
[8]Returns for Venango County include the votes from Warren County.
