Notes:

[1]"The House then again proceeded to ballot for one Senator - when the Hon. Mr. Orne was non-concurred, and Charles Jarvis, Esq. a third time elected by the House and sent up [to the Senate]." The Hampshire Chronicle (Springfield, MA). December 3, 1788.
[2]"In the afternoon, the Senate sent another message to the House in which it appeared they had again non-concurred Dr. Jarvis and sent down, the Hon. Tristram Dalton." The Hampshire Chronicle (Springfield, MA). December 3, 1788.
[3]After the third ballot again failed to elect a candidate, Charles Jarvis read a statement and declined being considered a candidate. A motion was then made to postpone the fourth ballot until the next session of the General Court, the vote being 69 yeas and 79 nays. The motion did not pass and the House proceeded to vote in the fourth ballot.
