[2]Nicholas Hansen's seat was contested by John Shaw. On December 9, 1822, the house seated Hansen by a vote of 20 to 14. However, when it became apparent that Hansen would not vote for submitting to the voters the question of calling a constitutional convention, the house reopened the question and seated Shaw on February 12, 1823.
