[9]The Eastern Gazette, located in Talbot County, on the Eastern Shore, printed a Federalist Ticket for the House of Delegates election in Frederick County from September 15 to September 29, 1821. After losing the State Senate elections in September, the Federalists, in some counties, only half heartily supported their Delegate tickets for the October elections. In some counties, like Frederick, they withdrew their candidates and there were no votes for the ticket. The Easton Gazette, on the opposite side of the state, may not have known this, and continued to print the ticket. No votes for the originally listed ticket have been located in newspaper reports or in the original returns.
[10]The Baltimore Patriot and Mercantile Advertiser (Baltimore, MD). and The Diary of Jacob Engelbrecht: 1818-1839 and the Republican Gazette and General Advertiser (Fredericktown, MD) list 242 votes for Henry Culler and 124 votes for Upton Bruce.
[11]The Baltimore Patriot and Mercantile Advertiser (Baltimore, MD). lists 140 votes for Bruce.
