Notes:
[1]"In this ward from some peculiarly favorable circumstances, the corruptionists determined to carry the Inspectors, and they actually did bet large sums of money, that they would carry the Inspectors in Locust ward. To effect this a considerable number of young men were moved from the wards where they made no opposition, into Locust ward, and infinite pains were taken to procure for the Inspectors the votes of persons who it was known would vote for Joseph Hiester at the General Election. It is not denied by the corruptionists that they polled at least 50 votes more in Locust ward yesterday than they can poll there for William Findlay at the General Election."
