[9]"The result of the Election in this county must be extremely gratifying to the friends of liberty and good principles. We do not exult ; but we rejoice that this respectable county continues, not only firm and stedfast, but that it is increasing in strength. Every federal town in the county has done its duty, and some are preeminently distinguished for their exertions. In no town, it is believed, has democracy gained ground, except six votes in the town of Remsen--in compensation for which we can count a gain of more than twenty times that number in other quarters. Federalists have done their duty." Utica Patriot (Utica, NY). May 10, 1808.
[10]Utica Patriot (Utica, NY) reports 62 votes for Thomas H. Hamilton in Bridgewater, however it reports the same total votes for Oneida County as reported in other sources.
[11]All sources report 0 votes for John Storrs in Camden apparently due to a mistake, as noted in the May 17, 1808 edition of Utica Patriot (Utica, NY).
[12]"In our return of the election last week, in the town of Camden there were no votes given for Mr. Storrs. We have since learnt that Mr. Storrs had 78 votes in that town, and that it was owing to a mistake in making out a list of the returns, that Mr. Storrs' name was not returned, nor the number of votes given for him stated. We think it due to Mr. Storrs and his friends to make this communication, as otherwise improper impressions might be made." Utica Patriot (Utica, NY). May 17, 1808.
