[3]"To the Editor -- Dated Surry County, 28th April, 1813 'I take great pleasure in communicating a state of the poll which closed about sunset -- For the County there were five Candidates -- the contest was severe -- Francis Ruffin had 213 votes, Archibald Davis 133, B.D. Henley 133 -- and the Sheriff voted in favor of Davis -- the number given to Wilson and Bailey, was very inconsiderable.'" The Enquirer (Richmond, VA). May 4, 1813.
