[2]"The Inhabitants were desired to bring in their Votes for a Town Clerk, and it was Voted, to close the poll at 12 O'Clock. The Votes, being counted, it appeared that the whole number was 1587 and that 794 was necessary for a choice . . . no person had a majority of votes; whereupon Voted, To adjourn the Meeting for choice of Town Clerk, untill tomorrow 14th at 10 O'Clock."
