[4]"On Monday last was the annual Town meeting for the choice of Town Officers. .... The struggle was great, and the first examination of the votes produced a choice of only three of the five member of the Board of Selectmen. One of them from the Federal ticket, and the other two from the Republican. .... As the day had been spent in canvassing the votes and the poll had been open through the day, an adjournment for the choice of the other two member was made till Tuesday and at this election the two Republican candidates were chosen."
