In the afternoon, the two branches assembled in Convention, to fill the vacancies in the Senate, viz. York district--one vacancy.--Candidates, Hon. SIMON FRYE, a Federal Republican; and RICHARD F. CUTTS.--The Committee reported, that the balots taken, were 173--of which the Hon. SIMON FRYE, Had 124; and was chosen." Columbian Centinel. Massachusetts Federalist (Boston, MA). May 29, 1802.
[3]"BOSTON GAZETTE, MAY 27. TRULY FEDERAL ELECTION. The Civil Administration of this Commonwealth, was yesterday renewed, agreeably to the forms adopted by our fathers ... In the afternoon the two Houses assembled in Convention, to fill the four vacancies in the Senate. The candidates for the vacancy in the county of York, were, the Hon. Simon Frye, and Richard F. Cutts, Esq. The joint committee raised to collect and count the votes, found the whole number to be 173--87 making a choice; and that the Hon. Simon Frye, had 124 votes, and was chosen. [Mr. Frye, was the Federal Candidate; the antifederal candidate, Mr. Cutts, had 49 votes.]" Courier of New Hampshire (Concord, NH). June 3, 1802.
