[2]"A committee of the Senate appointed to examine the returns of the votes for Senators for the several districts, reported, that Thirty-Nine were duly elected, and that there was one vacancy in Bristol district - That the votes necessary to make a choice in that district were 2362, that the Hon. Samuel Fales had 2357, and the Hon. Nathaniel Morton, Jun. had 2345 votes; and that they were the candidates to fill the vacancy:- The two Houses met in convention to supply the vacancy;- the whole number of votes collected was 639 - of which the Hon.
