[5]Cadwallader D. Colden received 3 votes as Cadwalader Colden.
[6]The National Advocate (New York, NY), The New-York Evening Post (New York, NY), The New-York Spectator (New York, NY) and The Columbian, for the Country (New York, NY)) all list 225 votes for Peter Sharpe.
[7]"Mr. Colden's Election - We have seen a letter from Samuel Sherman, Esq. the Clerk of Queens County, in which, in a very handsome and candid manner, he acknowledges that he made an error in returning to the Secretary's Office, 395 votes as given for Cadwallader Colden, which had been returned to him, by the inspectors of the town of Hempstead, as given for Cadwallader D. Colden. This puts the question of Mr. Colden's election clearly and indisputably at rest." National Intelligencer (Washington, DC). June 9, 1821.
[8]Cadwallader D. Colden received 395 votes as Cadwallader Colden.
[9]Cadwallader D. Colden received 1 vote as Lader D. Colden.
[10]The Albany Argus (Albany, NY) lists 220 votes for Cadwallader D. Colder as scattering votes in Suffolk county.
[11]"Mr. Colden lost 395 votes in the town of Hempstead, the returns being made for Cadwallader Colden, omitting the D; and 220 in the town of Brookhaven, the returns being made for Cadwallader D. Colder; in consequence of which the certificate of election is given to Mr. Sharpe. This disciple of Tammany Hall, therefore, will be permitted to go to Washington at the public expense, hold a seat in Congress a few days, perhaps vote for a slave-holding speaker, and return home." Lansingburgh Gazette (Lansingburgh, NY). June 5, 1821.
