[1]"On Monday the 9th inst. an election for a member to supply the place of Aaron Kitchel, Esq. in the Legislature of this state, commenced at Morris-Town; Col. Ellis Cook and Dr. William Canfield, jun. were nominated - on Friday evening last the poll closed and we are informed that the votes taken are as follow: For Cook, 1373, Canfield, 1003."
