[1]Elected.
[2]Roger Griswold, a Federalist, was supported by the Republicans and a large block (mostly Episcopalians) of Federalists. His victory was hailed as a triumph for the principles of religious freedom and democracy.
[3]John Treadwell was the first Governor since Connecticut became a state to be voted out of office. All previous Governors had died in office.
[4]Some returns reported by newspapers in the several days following the election were not accurate and later corrected in various subsequent issues. The bulk of these results came from the Connecticut Mirror and with few exceptions, were republished in most other newspapers.
