[23]"Senate - Monday, June 10 - Choice of Electors - The committee on the subject of the choice of Electors for President and Vice President, reported a Resolve on the subject, directing that they be chosen by the Legislature, in November next. Made the order of the day for to-morrow." On Tuesday June 11 the State Senate voted on this Resolve, followed by the House on June 12. The votes for and against were: Senate - 20 For the resolution 18 Against the resolution. House - 144 For the resolution 115 Against the resolution. [24]"After the votes were prepared, it was ascertained, that the Hon. Mr. Wilde, being one of the Supreme Judicial Judges, declined being a candidate, and it had been proposed to substitute the Hon. Daniel Cony, of the 5th Eastern District, in his stead; but there was not time for the member to receive the information and the hon. Judge was elected, as above.
